Getting in to the Festive Spirit

Christmas baking – filling your home with Christmassy smells signals the start of the festive season for many people so don’t hold back on the baking if you’ve got a Grinch around. Fill them up with Christmas cookies, mince pies, Yule log and gingerbread and see those rosy cheeks start to glow.
Sing carols – ok so some people don’t want to head to church but you can sing carols anywhere. Particularly after a couple of mulled wines, belting out some Silent Nights and O Come All Ye Faithful’s, is one of the most effective ways to inject some traditional Christmas spirit into the proceedings.
Decorating the tree (and your home) – just the smell of a Christmas tree can send some people into paroxysms of festiveness so if you know someone who doesn’t bother with a Christmas tree, who doesn’t decorate their home then get them over to help out with yours. Start them on the paper chains, ply them with sherry and then allow them to place the fairy on top of the tree and they won’t be able to resist a little festive smirk.
Get into the Christmas party spirit – surrounding yourself with friends and family and smiling happy faces topped with Christmas hats has the unavoidable consequence of making everyone feel incredibly festive. Find that cute person they’ve been thinking about and carefully position some mistletoe to give them a Christmas they’ll never forget.
